Autumn Blast

Post by Gardenshed »

Craobh to Tob on Thursday in just over 5 hours on the good ship Calisa. 1 reef and a poled out jib, 2 gybes only and we were in the Mishinsh before dark.
The weekend aim was to spectate at the Mull Rally. Doing that by boat means no chasing ferry places and accommodation, and to spectate, a boat parked off the waterfront is a great vantage point for the first stage. The rallying equivalent of the Monaco Grand Prix!
great Weeknd to be on Mull. great atmosphere, very friendly participants, spectators and support teams and easy to get close to cars and pit crews.
woke on Sunday to a screaming gale, but an hour later it had moderated. Tob to Craobh through the Cuan sound, no tacks or gybes the whole way down (sailing not motoring), which was a first for me, and a fast trip, 5 1/2 hours.
worth thinking about for a late season jaunt if your boat hasn't already been laid up

Great stuff and fast passage times. Did you get to watch the tea cake eating contest?

Looking forward to more autumn and winter sails as I am not lifting this year.

well done for volunteering/marshalling.
All the marshals we met were incredibly friendly, helpful and keen to point us in the right direction for easy/best spectating/viewing.
