Cheaper than Rothesay or Tobermory. Showers are spacious, hot and free. Leccy is included. Spar shop and café next to marina. Belfast city centre is a stroll away with more bars than I can cope with. People are west coast friendly. What's not to like?
Now all I have to do is brave the north channel to get back to JWD!

Stay a while until a perfect forecast comes along?
I once went into Bangor Marina to top up the diesel, took me four days for various reasons, mostly alcohol related but still it’s never wise to hurry.

From my 2 recent crossings of the North Channel I would recommend adding at least 10 kts to the forecast wind and +1 or 2 on the CG Beaufort scale. Oh, and don't expect Dutch oil tankers to give way.

Forecast ("windy" app and XE Weather) was spot on when I did a trip to Bangor from Largs (and back the next day) in late august, including fog on the way back as we passed Larne and the breeze dying out in the evening when we were approaching Garroch Head

I took a female acquaintance to Northern Ireland for a weekend away. Not for sightseeing - I took her to Bangor.

Shocked!
I met a Norwegian woman there a long time ago - I think she was norwegian -- she'd a face like a norse....

Re: Belfast Harbour
We spent five days in Belfast in mid August. Cheap, good facilities, excellent location. Only regret is that we didn't bother digging the bikes out.
I did lots of woodwork and generally made a nuisance of myself with power tools all over the pontoon, and nobody batted an eyelid. I don't think the more posh marinas would have been very happy with that.
Anyway in the interests of fitting in with the forum, I have penned a little ditty:
I met a lovely girl
Here's the song I sang 'er
I took her for a sail
And now I'm going to Bangor

Re: Belfast Harbour
I had a lovely sail
With a buxom lass called Kitty
The boom it gybed as she stood up
And smacked her in the kneecaps
I've cleaned that up to preserve the finer feelings of some of the more sensitive souls that gather here
