Isleornsay

Great anchorage, especially using Antares to get well south to shorten the dinghy ride to the pub. Pub itself is both expensive and mediocre food. At least the barman was honest enough to be wearing a mask, the bandit.

That's a shame. Eilean Iarmain Hotel used to be the place for a great night when owned by Sir Iain Noble (of Noble Gossart).

He knew how to throw a great ceilidh!

An Englishman asks "is Isleornsay the Anglicised version of Eilean Iarmain?"

I don't have the Gaelic unfortunately. And all charts and pilots refer to Isleornsay but I shall now do all posts from north of Ardnamurchan in garlic to aid authenticity. Mar sin leat.

I too would call the anchorage 'Isleoransay'. The Hotel, however is the Eilean Iarmain

Oronsay is derived from the Norse for a tidal island. There are quite a few around.

Does an Ornsay need to have a Tarbert at low tide? :)

If I remember correctly (a long shot) the signs from the main road are to Eilean Iarmain, no mention of Ornsay or anything like that.
