Build your own stove project (on this site)

Post by sean »

Hi Guys, I'm a newbie.
seen an article linked to this site about building a boat stove from a bit of old scrap 100mm box section, very interesting, a prototype is in the pipeline.
I have a morso stove in my narrow boat, this mini 4x4x12 inch design looks just the job for my 26' callumcraft.
If you are the designer of this stove please email me.

well, i know its a while after, however i have a design together.
I also solved the rust problem, we have a printing press here at work, i used old roll centres which are thick wall steel tube, i welded 2 sizes one over the other on the baseplate leaving an air gap between, then made a door plate out of some more tube with a damper at the bottom, and filled in the gap between the inner and outer tubes with flat bar, eventually welding on an oversized top plate, big enough for a kettle or pan.

because there is 2 tubes one inside the other, the outer wall does not get so hot, so the stove is safer, and the outer does not rust the same, plus the fire is hotter so theres a more complete burn of the fuel, and less smoke, future mods may be a secondary air pipe within to assist the burn, allthough it doesnt really need it.

you could just as well get the same result from 2 different sizes of box section, say 100 by 100, and 150 by 150.

Certainly not cold anymore in the winter when i need to get away from the mrs.

.
Welcome to the forum Sean.

Any chance of a diagram or some pix of your stove to add to the existing article?
