In FIreFox the log-in page twitches twelve pixels or so to the left then back again.
If you look you can see that this is because the scoll bar keeps vanishing and re-appearing.
Easiest way to fix this would be to make the forum a fixed width, but if I do it will not suit everybody - at the moment it fills everyone's screen no matter what resolution you are using.
So should I make the forum fixed width or not?

I have added it now . . .
.
Sorry about that LBB. Just to prove that we are a little more responsive here than some forums I could mention - your option has been added.
We look forward to recording your vote!

Maybe later?
I've been advised that Firefox might be the perros cohones compared to Explorer, which keeps going to the loo for no apparent reason. Perhaps if others are getting the same advice, your fix will become a 'must do' soon.

Browser rant . . .
I've been advised that Firefox might be the perros cohones compared to Explorer

I used to be a dedicated Netscape buff, then as it lost market share I began to develop sites mostly with IE in mind. I gradually came to realise that there was nothing seriously wrong with IE and my Netscape predeliction had been largely an anti-Microsoft reaction. After that life was much easier for a few years when IE took over 90% of the browser market - all my clients were using it and in five years I only ever had one geek tell me one of my sites didn't work in Opera.
Now Firefox has become trendy. Personally I don't feel the need for any of its bells and whistles and some of its deliberate differences annoy me. I still use Internet Explorer as my browser of preference, and only fire Firefox up to check new sites / pages in it. As I validate all new sites against WCC standards I don;t usually have any problem with FF but the way it treats the scrollbar as part of the available screen area is a pain in the neck and completely unnecessary - this behaviour is not part of any standard for web browsers and AFAIK is the first browser to do this.
I think that if you use an operating system that doesn't ship with IE as an integral part of it then FireFox is the obvious choice of browser, but otherwise IMO it is just a fashion statement.
But then what do I know - apart from the fact that I have probably spent more time on the internet over the last twelve years than any two other forumites put together . . .
Don't listen to self-confessed experts - try Firefox for yourself if you have nothing better to do and ask yourself if it was really worth the effort. And remember that it will regularly run updates - not a painful process but just one more extra hassle on top of Windows updates.

exposed nerve?
Sorry Nick, I didn't mean to touch raw flesh. I was a very satisfied netscape man when we had it on OS2, and don't have an axe to grind. I really lost interest in this stuff when we stopped putting holes in cards, and just get fed up with the "sorry, encountered problem, off-on" messages, regardless of their cause or origin. Some people, however, (buffs and in the business) seem to think FF is the answer. So, going back to the original question, I suspect there may be an influx of FF users in the future.
That's all.
That's all.
