Kilopost anxiety

Post by Silkie »

(You will probably know it better as KPA.)

My thousandth post in another place passed without notice and I couldn't tell you what it was about. It seems a much weightier matter here however, what with being the first ever BeeMer to waste so much time here, not to mention promotion to Admiral.

There are so many options.

Something purely factual that I think will be of interest to many like Shock for Colonsay residents perhaps. Doesn't always generate a big response.

Something really deep like Why do we sail? Tempted Hazard out of lurkdom at least.

An attempt to organise a social like Swally maybe. Again, not guaranteed to spark much interest.

Asking for advice? Soft eye. Frequently drowned by one or more loons typing gibberish it would seem.

Something gloriously senseless like so successfully concealing videos of the complete works of Jimi Hendrix within a thread that no one will ever notice despite obtuse hints?

Maybe just a simple salutation and sailing vid like Happy New Year. Hit the spot for Hazard again.

Arrr!

It is rather a heavy responsibility, do you intend to start a thread with number 1000, or can we trick you into wasting it on a off the cuff reply.

I think that you should just say that this is my 1,000 th post, and that you expect congrats from every forum member and see how close you get to 274 replies.

The post would need to demonstrate all the skills, and experience that you have gained during the previous 999.

It's hard to say what would arose interest. I spoke to Nick in signal flags, and didn't raise any comment - not even that I had spelt Cathy / Kathy wrong.

The photo of my boat thread in t'other place sparked some interest, but might crash Auld Nick's server.

My only advice would be start working on it (offline) now, or you might find yourself rushed.

Any handy causeways - with accurate tide calculations - we might see a video of you walking on water.

Remember that you only have 15 posts to spare before

Alter Ego

Post by HRH-A »

My Dearest Silkie

One would not wish to spoil the celebrations of your KiloPost, but one must discuss the following.

One's security forces tell one that yourself had an alter ego, viz
153.......MacHurley22........Scotland.....26 Feb 2005.....37
Should these 37 posts not be added to your total, which would put you well past number 999.

Pesonally, one could never condone this practise of multiple identities.

What do the Forum members think?

Are you saying that the quality of Silkie's KiloPost might be a bit of a lottery? Dependant on what? Over tired, over excited, over inebriated?

Over to you.

My Dearest Little Boy Blue

Cute name - nothing to do with Blue Tongue, one hopes.

Silkie would never be past it.

Oh, you mean past 1,000, not past IT.

One is happy to see that one is not alone in this regard.

One feels rather bad for mentioning it, because Silkie is a lovely, lovely man.

One met him you realise, some time ago. One has a large framed photo of the event, and people say to one
Who's that standing next to Silkie?
and one says
Don't be silly - that is one when one was younger
