Pontoons at Castlebay

Post by stevepick »

Was over in Barra earlier in may during "summer" - as we chugged up to the VB's a pontoon unexpectedly appeared. A largish breakwater pontoon is in place , with nice walkway to shore. The pontoon fingers to go inside the breakwater are not in place yet, but water and leccky are on the pontoon, and it will easily take 20 boats once the fingers are in (its going to be a little smaller than tobermory once finished). Hadn't seen this mentioned before, just thought folks would like to know.

I was 3 days ago.
Unfortunatly, it is not yet finshed: no showers; no toilet, no wifi. And the charge is 2£50 per meter.

Are some or all of the VBs still there?

All the VB's are still there, 3 are inside the breakwater , and a couple look a little dubious now because of their proximity to the pontoon. I guess a few VB's will be lost when the fingers are in place.
