Surviving The Evacuation, London - Book 1, Frank Tayell
A first person narrative.
After a long absence from the genre, winter blues and the shear slog of trying to read Tim Layhaye's 13 volume Biblical Tribulation, End of Days, Satan fest, I decided that simple Zombie Armageddon was needed as spring time looms.
This is a series of post zombie apocalypse stories as recorded in the journal of a surviving UK political lobbyist. Ah, I hear you say, are you sure it's not a blood sucking vampire story, no it's not, pure dead zombie.
The lobbyist promotes a plan to help the UK survive the infection which is adopted by the government. Huge evacuations are arranged from the cities to safe enclaves. The borders to the UK are sealed (to the hurrahs of Brexiteers) and brutal measures to defend the country against affection commence: passenger planes are shot down, food aid vessels are hijacked and brought back to the UK and a nuclear weapon is detonated over a fleet of vessels heading out of the east coast of devastated America to the UK.
The lobbyist misses all this as he breaks his leg and gets stuck in his London flat as the evacuation begins. The story recalls how he survives while his leg heals, his journey out of London and the realisation that his plan has ............

Reached volume 16 now. Worth reading the first half dozen but does slow up rather.
