S. D. Crocket
This is the prequel to 'After The Snow' that I commented on earlier. It is set many years before the mini ice age just as it all kicks off and traces the journey of two kids from Poland to England. Society is not doing well with the longer and bitter winters, nations are struggling, energy is in short supply, forced evacuations south and food shortages.
The style of writing is not the same as in 'After The Snow' which was first person local dialogue and took a bit of getting used to, a more traditional narrative style is adopted in this book. A good read.
