Nice and kindness
In Stornoway - the French boat next to us has just been presented with a bunch of flowers by a local 'cos of the atrocity in Nice.

The French and Scots have had a long history to alliances. I am still trying to come to terms with what happened today.

To 'come to terms' with such things you really have to look at them with no emotion and cold logic and even then can one really come to terms or just understand the reasons why other points of view exist. Why do the IRA exist, why did they bomb, why do ISIS exist, why do they terrorise? The psychopaths are an unknown, in their own world and logic space that is far removed from normal thinking. Thomas Hamilton, no one saw him coming, but certain signs were there, the murder of that wee boy in Fife, the risk was known but society did not appreciate how high the probability was and he paid the price for that failure.lady_stormrider wrote:The French and Scots have had a long history to alliances. Every minute of our existence raping, beating, abuse, paedophilia, starving, humiliation, exploitation of young and old is happening. Life is of little value and taken easily and the complete failure to believe that life as sacrosanct is adequately shown in the films 'Sicario' and 'The Councillor'.
Rather than focus on misery and try to come to terms with it, I chose to focus on the positives, which are by far the majority. We do not live in a world where such horrors are normal, we live in a world where good is actually routine, where the majority of kids are not drug taking hooddies but productive, happy kids and where the majority who practise religion are in fact good people.
Don't come to terms with it, you cant, in my opinion.

I agree - I can't come to terms with it - but I can stop now and again, blow my nose, think a quick prayer to a bloke from the Jewish religion (J.C.)who got nailed to a piece of wood 2,000 years ago who is regarded as a Muslim prophet to Big G and Old Spooky.
