Lyme Regis to Lands End including the Isles of Scilly - Strong winds are forecast

24 hour forecast: Northwesterly 4 or 5, occasionally 6 at first in west. Slight or moderate. Showers, Fair Isle later. Good.

Outlook for the following 24 hours: Northwest 3 or 4, backing west or southwest 5 or 6. Slight or moderate, becoming rough later in far west. Fair at first, then rain or showers. Good, occasionally moderate later.

Leaving Falmouth tomorrow. Been here a couple of weeks; we were tied up for a week as I had commitments elsewhere. On trying to leave Falmouth last Saturday we discovered that the fuel tank had developed a leak probably (hopefully) towards the top of the tank. Bit of a scunner to be honest.

We hope that we've decanted a sufficient quantity to be able to sail without more serious spillage. As we are still getting used to the boat we'd decided that we would not sail unless F7 and and above are absent from the forecast.

It looks like we now have a weather window of about two days so we'll find out tomorrow whether we need to get the work done here or whether we can wait until in we're in home waters. Simple test; diesel sloshing about while under sail = coming back in and getting a new tank fitted in Falmouth. Otherwise, it'll be done in Scotland.
