Silicone Spray

I don't know if this is any use to anybody, or if the stuff is any good, but I was in B & Q today and saw that they sell silicone spray at about £5 a go. I only mention this as I know somebody who paid £20 for a similar size of McLube last weekend - and I think that is a silicone spray so I assume, in my innocence and lack of any technical knowledge, that they are similar.

If by McLube you mean McLube Sailkote - they make much of it not being silicone. (McLube sell other products as well.) Google is your friend:

Sailkote is a translucent liquid that sprays or wipes on and completely dries in seconds. So, unlike oils, silicones, and waxes, it will never attract dirt, water and contaminants that eventually degrade lubrication performance.

The McLube did a remarkable job on the workings of the Mercedes hood.

It is now silent and totally smooth in operation.

I await the response with bated breath.

It puts me in mind of an old CC post about Nick booting TCM's Bentley across the island, but haven't had the patience to find it yet.

I think that I know the answer to the? about the Merc.

It's a friend's, and it doesn't live on Seil, only visits.

A very nice car to drive, top up or down.

The only Mercs that I get to drive are LWB Sprinter, and they don't even have a sun roof. They do have power and gearing to cope with German Autobahn though.
