Great stuff. Power to the people.
Next mission is to get a job this week in Cumbernauld.

Re: Wot news of the galvanising project?
Hi Geoff,
Have paid by PayPal, but don't see my initials on the list. Please can you advise.
Thanks,
Mark

Re: Wot news of the galvanising project?
I've got all the details at work, so will do tomorrow Mark.
I do recognise "Pilgrim" though. Thinks that's somewhere on the list?

Your chain is completed.
I didn't have initials recorded, and wasn't sure of name, had both yacht name and surname, but wasn't sure which was which.
I know there's some have a sensitivity to disclosure of real name on such public forums so played the safer route.
In my records of the chains, I've got your name recorded.
Another update later today.

Update
There's one chain left in the process, probably be done later today.
That one straggler is for JA, 50m x 10mm chain.
All other chains and anchors completed, tagged with owners names and ready for collection or whatever you have arranged.
There were a few containers or bags with some, Where these looked like they warranted keeping they were (eg a blue plastic bucket for BL), where already falling apart, they were not kept. (eg blue plastic box for NB). We have a supply of white sacks if you would like one to hold your chain, just ask on collection. (but I don't think many of us could lift a sack of 10mm chain!)
Geoff
(now to collect my own and get it to the boat and re-installed ready for whenever the rain stops!)

Re: Wot news of the galvanising project?
I mentioned that payment schemes are in the members area.
As of now, I know of payment from the following:
SteveN
Mehitabel
Pilgrim
Marisca
Docoliver
Aja
If I've missed any please let me know.
I've paid the single invoice to the company that allowed the deal.

Re: Wot news of the galvanising project?
Many thanks Geoff
Would Friday afternoon between 3.30 and 4.30 be convenient to collect? I know you've published drop off times before but I can't find them- sorry.
If so Mark could collect Pilgrim's chain then.
Best wishes
Liz

I've made a payment since this list was published. More detail in the members section.mm5aho wrote:I mentioned that payment schemes are in the members area.

My chains were delivered in 2 white sacks - a big one which originally contained Marisca's new chain, and a small one supplied by the East Renfrewshire for paper recycling so no great loss if they have disappeared in which case I might take you up on your offer.mm5aho wrote:Update

I can lift the heavier chain into the boot, but need to hand ball it back out bit by bit.
I've been left to my our devices tomorrow, Wednesday so will have a run out to Cumbernauld after I've walked the dog.
I can't remember if lunchtime is an unsuitable time for the plant, but I'll have a look through old posts.
Cheers
Ash

Re: Wot news of the galvanising project?
Hi Geoff
I’ve just picked up 3 chains and 3 anchors at lunchtime today, Wednesday 10 February. My own 2 sets plus a set belonging to IP.
I used a hatchback with the additional complication of a dog!
I lifted the 3 anchors and the lighter chain into the boot.
I flipped forward the rear seat squabs, laid down an old curtain for protection, and hand-balled the heavier chain in a couple of metres at a time.
I forgot to take my gloves, but my hands survived unscathed.
For those still to uplift, the procedure seems to be:
Enter the yard using the second gate ( on your left ) You should find a man at the blue container. The chains are all on your right halfway down the next straight.

Ash
Just need to work up the enthusiasm to get it back out of the car. Might watch Heartbeat first!

Re: Wot news of the galvanising project?
More advise, now that I've emptied the car.
Make sure that you have something removable / disposable under the chain, otherwise you will be left with shiny slivers in your car.
