Splicing

Post by lady_stormrider »

Is it still possible in this modern age for an Admiral or a fully certified Captain to marry two members of the Blue Moment Forum?

I'm just asking as it may be less expensive than using a land-lubbing Registrar

Certainly it is, My Dear. However I must alert you to the fact and Old Custom that we do have a right - which may ineed be exercised, should the feeling move us - to first Dibs.

It's the same fer Ancient Lairds...

I've just re-read your post - did you mean "to marry 2 members of Blue Moment" as in to marry them both - which might prove to be bigamous, or simply "to conduct the ceremony"?

I've been told that only now happens in parts of Highland Scotland where there isn't mobile 'phone coverage :shake:

Anyway myself and another member of the Blue Moments Forum are wishing to get married to each other/get spliced/tie the knot and were looking to get the deed done sooner rather than later (certainly before May).

I hope that's cleared any mis-understandings up.

We do know of a Padre who sails but I don't think that he frequents these fora.

We could rustle up a BM lay preacher.

Else it might need to the captain of the MV Lochinvar.

I seem to remember from my Parahandy reading that it needs to be the captain of a real "shup" to do the deed.

More importantly, how many days need we allow for the Stag Doo?

Congratulations

Ash

Sadly, the idea of a ship's captain having any powers to marry is not and never has been true unless the captain also qualifies as a minister or other celebrant.
Claymore's kind offer is unlikely to satisfy either yourself or the law of the land.

There is a firm in Kip who have a yacht that you can legally get married aboard - I used to know somebody who got married in Rothesay Bay on it.

That's not a bad idea - we could raft up Aquaplane's Mum's boat as accommodation - plus we don't know if the local Registry Office is available.

Wife and I got married in the Colintraive Hotel and spent our honeymoon on the boat in Rothesay. Worked for us.
