Probably still too soon to call - We'll just keep watching. Muzzy and I are at a training event on the Friday so we are looking to get out of it by the bewitching hour of 14:00, have tea at home and then go onto the boat. The Dock gates will be open around an hour or so before HW so we are planning to leave at 19:00 ish.
That would put us in IOM 10 hrs or so later - 20+knots NW in the north channel isn't too much fun so we'll just pace our arrival there for when the 12knots of SE comes in (October 4th?!!)

Well I'm just about to set off for the boat. I'm still intending to get round to the Clyde over the next couple of days - the forecast for the weekend seems to have changed entirely since yesterday - and aim for Monday's Sanda rendezvous, weather permitting. Whether I can get back round the Mull is another matter... I'll get in touch by phone over the weekend.

Got anymore details for Monday's rendezvous. I'm leaving for Arran on Fri as the family have booked themselves into a lodge at the Auchrannie Needless to say they are travelling on a vessel slightly bigger than the good ship Booby Trapper, something owned by some geezer called Calmac. A trip to Sanda may be possible Monday.

At the moment the Northerlies are forecast to ease and venture southerly by Tuesday. Sunday and Monday don't look too promising in the Irish Sea but the boat is ready to go so we'll just wait and see.

I hope I don't sound too thick but I have to ask a daft question. Your profile says Loch Melfort, and there has been mention of the Irish Sea and IOM. Where is the boat? The northerlies coming round to southerlies sort of point to IOM but I can't be sure.

Edit: just found a post from a while ago about coming from Fleetwood this w/e, so that answers my question. I'm picking my crew up in Preston and driving up after some tea and a nap. I bet your journey will be better than mine :O(

Yes - we are sailing the boat from Fleetwood so were hoping to be in the Clyde by Monday.
Not going to set off now until we see what Sunday's weather will bring - being stuck for a couple of days on the IOM with the TT practice running is my idea of hell.
I'd rather have my buttocks sliced off, varnished and sold in a provincial craft shop than do that

Though an aerial view (which is what most of us see most of the time) does bear some striking similarities to a billiard ball.

So.. should I stand down the welcoming committee 'til next weekend then? I could be at Crinan by Friday afternoon, weather permitting. If that's too late to help with your transit I could have the gin poured to celebrate your homecoming.

Well, I'm currently in Campbeltown, and about to set off for Sanda. The various weather sites seem to agree that the strong northerlies are moderating, so hopefully the following two day haul up from the Mull should be OK. I presume that since Claymore is posting on here this morning he won't make the rendezvous. (This could, of course, be entirely wrong - he could, like me, be accessing the internet from a library, or even have some whizzy mobile technology that I don't understand and be posting while en route. Of course, if he answered his bl@@dy phone I would know where he was!)

I spent the night at Sanda on the way down and was quite impressed with the set up there. Too early in the season for real ales, but the Guinness was OK. He does showers (in the "bunkhouse") for Â£3 which was very handy. A bit bouncy at anchor with an onshore wind, but the holding seemed good.
