Claymore - An Apology!
Sir, I regret apportioning to your intemperate post the blame for the failure of our boys to subdue the Welsh. It is obvious after yesterday's performance that they need no so such encouragement to drag defeat from the jaws of victory. I am so looking forward to them reaching new heights against Ireland and the Auld Enemy.

My Dear Old Thing - I feel united with you in grief and despair.marisca wrote:Sir, I regret apportioning to your intemperate post the blame for the failure of our boys to subdue the Welsh. I have a ticket for Twickenham and am currently under a cloud of misery at the prospect of a bloody stuffing.
On a technical matter, I know it had no bearing on the outcome, but I felt it harsh that after the Penalty Try, we also got a 2nd Yellow Card.
I know that the Laws cover this if a penalty was awarded but it seems a double clobber when its a penalty try. If someone is sent off, then there is no guarantee that an ensuing penalty will be turned into points. The conclusion was already reached on Saturday but had that taken place with 20 minutes left to play then there is a good chance that leading the scoresheet and playing 13 men, the Italians might well have run in another 10 points

Well - what is there to say? It was a bad omen when the band buggered up 'Flower of Scotland'
I had a pitch side seat so felt some of the tackles that were made - i think we will have some very stiff and sore men in 30 years time.

The oompah version of FoS was yet another attempt to keep the rebellious Scots in their place. We mustn't leave the union, but how dare we threaten to use the democratic process in the mother of parliaments. now where was I? Oh yes, rugby - you must have suffered, Claymore, after the first 5 minutes waiting for the onslaught that never came. I feel very proud of their performance but I expect the greedy tossers of English backs who squandered so many chances are getting their shortcomings explicitly explained to them.
Et maintenant, c'est Allez les Bleus! J'espère qu'ils joueront un peu mieux que contre l'Italie - c'était pas joli.

I was moved to pray for a lightning bolt to burn a massive hole in the pitch at half time and thus get the 10-13 score declared a result. Very impressed with many of the Scottish team. Shame we didn't have Richie Gray and perhaps Big Jim is nearing the end of the line.
