As I sit under the tropical sun a mere 2 degrees south of the equator - actually that's a lie 'cos it's just plummeted below the horizon - the idea of a gentle drift of snow across the screen is quite appealing. Snow on!

What plummeted below the horizon? The equator? The degrees? or the sun?

If it was the sun on the horizon, where were you to be sitting under it?

By simply looking at the time of my post and assuming my sun plummets at 1800ish local time gives an eastward shift of about 30°. So 2°S 30E is close enough to Kigali to find it.

Well,
not being 2 deg off the equator, but 58.8N and 5.76E, the sun hasn't bothered to show itself for almost a week. Ah well, after next weekend the days start to get a (very) little longer again.

We have real snow/sleet and rain, followed by frost. An ugly combination I can tell you.

Sailed in 15-18kts last weekend in rash vest shorts, harness and buoyancy aid. 12'55.061N 100'51.423E
"cool" 28C and less humidity than normal. 2 on the trapezes, aysmmetric kite up and hitting more speed through the water than the wind speed. growing old but not growing up!
Missing the northern climes so leaving tonight to come back for a few days of real rain, dark days and winter chill.
How time flies.

Nacra F18 Infusion
Both trapezing up wind and 2 sail reaches.
Helm sits in when for the downwind so that the crew can get right back (behind the helm). Very similar conditions and you will see the techniques I'm referring to in this link http://stbarthcatacup.com/gbr/. we get similar conditions but without the rubbish music.

Fine, I am jealous after all. The closest I have got to that was sailing Dart 18s from Port Edgar, and some similar Hobies in Antugua years ago. Excellent fun! I have sailed more asymmetric dinghies than cats, but off the wind a touch with the kite up and planing takes a lot of beating
