Re: Winter Solstice pub meet.
Well that was a pleasant evening, so pleasant indeed, and so well did those present get on, that a suggestion was made that we gather again, in less than a years time.
The highpoint of the evening was "the drunk man" who became noisy, then very noisy, then took a swing at a fellow drinker, then flung a glass and was finally unceremoniously "flung oot"
References were made to the esteemed web miester in a discussion about the north west passage and how much ice there may or may not be there and whether any particular species might be blamed for this. Very, very long words were used by the academic in the corner but we think he meant "man made". It was thought by most that the opening up of new cruising areas was generally to be welcomed and that perhaps the new marina at Kivtoo Nunavut on Baffin Island could become a destination for a future "Chentlemans' Cruise"
So as this thread is about winter solstice drinking I'll revert to the "drinks" thread to propose a preseason date

Damn! Missed it. I suppose that's what happens when you don't log on to the forum for a fortnight...
