It's probably a dreadful breach of protocol to even mention the words Chentlemen's Cruise before the hogmanay malt has even been opened never mind consumed, so I apologise for that. I have never been able to participate for one reason and another but am hoping to correct that error this coming year, whether I am truly a chentleman or not. My partners and I will be finalising the Cherry Ripe sailing calendar before long and I was hoping to be able to have the boat at my disposal for the weekend in question.
That of course depends on an accurate prediction of the CC weekend. I understand that the first weekend in May was traditional, but that last year the chentlemen decided to make it a couple of weeks later. Would I be wrong to think that around 15-18 May would be a good bet?

Re: May 2015
Scottish Islands Peaks Race starts Fri 15th May.
If racing then, a cruise then isn't likely.
If cruising, then the route might be one to avoid with all those crazy antics.
I intend to be race.

The SITPR did clash with the CC last year. Whilst there has been no consultation this year amongst participants, as the Self Appointed Resident Director, I feel qualified to state, categorically, that your qualification as a Chent is proven through your admirable posts and that you would indeed be welcome. There are a number of initiation sorts of things you would need to fulfil but we can take you through these as we go along.
Not sorted a date out yet but we did move away from the Early May Bank Holiday as the weather had proved inclement - naturally the weather Gods had been alerted to this change so it blew and pished it doon as much as ever.

In fact we have been lucky with the early May weekend most years, but were spooked by 2013.claymore wrote:We did move away from the Early May Bank Holiday as the weather had proved inclement - naturally the weather Gods had been alerted to this change so it blew and pished it doon as much as ever.
I propose reverting to the original early May bank holiday, with an option to cancel and reconvene if it looks sensible.

So, I will plan for the May Day weekend and ensure that I have a Red Flag in my flag cupboard.
