Anyone out?
Heading off tomorrow for Ochtoberfest, the last mini-cruise of the year fetching up in Loch Creran next weekend to lift out. Wind availability looks to be more than adequate.

We are playing out Thursday to Sunday but I don't know how far we will venture looking at the forecast.

Re: Anyone out?
Wind seems set to remain between S & W for the foreseeable. The vague plan is to head S initially and turn for home on Saturday so you never know...

Re: Anyone out?
Might do the Sound of Jura triangle, Craighouse, Arminish, home. It seems sensible to go up hill (into the wind) then we can get home easier if it stays foul.
We are about for the TV Bay association AGM for the first time in years too so it may be a good idea to introduce ourselves if we can. I have already been told we can't vote, nor even attend, but I could go get Mum from Tarbert and go with her.
Anyway, the weather will be too good to waste a day in a meeting.

Still over in the Emerald Isles and won't be playing with boatie again until November - then I hope to sneak in a cheeky wee cruise or three over the quiet months.

Re: Anyone out?
We'll be out next week probably. Vague plan to take Shard down to the Clyde for the winter, but nothing firm. Haven't looked at the weather....

I'm not too worried on either score.wully wrote:Now, will ye be able tae keep up? Oan the watter as well as the pub
Kathy and I once beat a floating caravan of the same make and model of yours from Smerwick Harbour to Aran Mor by 3 hours over a 70 mile passage.
Though Fairwinds does have a bit of a dirty bottom, not having been scrubbed or antifouled for 20 months.

Was in PD last night but didn't make it ashore sorry. Currently cowering in Oban marina hoping it will be nicer tomorrow - or maybe Saturday.Nick wrote:.

Re: Anyone out?
We're planning to go to Ardrossan this winter, (insurance survey needed & I suspect some work too)
Only window for us is Linnhe to Crinan on Friday 17th (tides look good), through(ish) the canal on Saturday, & on down on the Monday, all weather permitting.
Anyone else?

Re: Anyone out?
I was out Wednesday and Thursday to catch the last rays before the clag set in. Circumnavigated Bute and got blasted up river from Toward to Cloch yesterday afternoon. 1st time I have ever been pooped but the cockpit drains work! I think it was my own sternwave that overtook me though I can't say I was looking in that direction. Jib furling gear has gone bad and sticky; main tack shackle came undone, presumably while reefed, and let go about 10 minutes after I pulled it all back up; and I probably have to empty the Eberspacher exhaust after the pooping - it really needs a flap valve.
Tuesday I get to snigger while Geoff sits his YM and then the next weekend there's a boat to move from Dunstaffanage to JWD. Marisca is staying in until Xmas in the hope the sunny days never end.

Alistair
I am moving Oban to Ardrossan on the 11/12th , so I may see you around, what route & boat? We are going around the MOK (boat is marginal for the canal).
