3G tip
Met a very nice couple, Malcolm & Moira in the p place three weeks ago. Over drinks on their boat they told us that the network provider Three have a mast on Mull that provides a 3G signal. As usual, our Giffgaff phones (which I think use O2 as their provider) had carp GPRS net access everywhere even when we had a very strong signal. Surely it cannot cost (and they can certainly afford it) the other providers much to upgrade their masts .....

Re: 3G tip
For that matter why don't they all share the same facilities. And share the ones with the highest broadband capacity?
If multiple gas companies can share the same pipe, compressors, valves etc, and charge separately, and electric companies the same, why not mobiles?

Re: 3G tip
You'll get 3G from Fladda to almost Tobe on EE, Virgin, Tmobile, BT as they all share their networks...
O2 still just shades it for voice comms but is rubbish for data.
I've got an EE data sim in my Aye-pad. And an O2 sim in my phone to get the best of both worlds. In a sensible world, as already noted all networks would share to give their punters the best service.
