Hello Folks,
I need some stainless jobs done: -
1. Stem head fitting cheeks and roller moved forward.
2. Backing plate for rigging.
3. Lower rail added to push pit. It only has a top rail.
Any ideas of good DIYers (I have money, will pay cash), or reputable firms that take on odd, small jobs?
Regards,
Alastair
Refit is taking longer, surprise, surprise.

Re: Stainless Fabricator Edinburgh or Glasgow Required
I did an insurance paid replacement of pulpit a few years back, and tried the more traditional stainless marine fabricators. I noted two things. Generally the marine oriented fabricators are more expensive, and that there's a HUGE range of pricing between all fabricators. (The highest bid was four times the lowest, and they were spread between the extremes).
The one I did use has gone bust since, (says something then?? and given your location, Cumbernauld would have been handy?)
Here's some possibilities:
Machan Engineering in Denny 01324 824309
Miller fab, Wishaw, 01698 373770
Blueton, Denny, 01324 829661
Ogilvie, Kilmarnock 01563 570061
Neptune, Glasgow 0141 4273773
JGB Steelcraft Johnston 01505 326589
Martec, Glasgow 0141 6465220
These don't purport to be marine fabricators, but all do stainless work of good quality that I've seen.
So they'd do anything to a drawing, but if it came to a site look and see then make to fit, they might not be so good. I think if you took a piece to them and said what you wanted it would work. I took my old pulpit and a drawing I'd made of the replacement (slightly different), and although they'd not done a bot job before it was a nice job.
I did speak to the marina people at Roseneath, but they were busy enough to not be able to cross the water to Rhu. If I left the boat with them, they'd do it, but she was on the hard for the winter. Otherwise they were one of the few to bother to reply to my enquiry.
