A productive day
.
Engine coolant half drained, tube stack out of heat exchanger and cleaned, refilled with (half) fresh antifreeze. Drain plug wouldn't come out so we were reduced to taking the hose at the bottom of the water pump off and draining approx. half the old coolant, refilling with fresh water, run engine, repeat three times then top up with neat antifreeze.
~ Fuel filters both changed.
~ Oil and filter change.
~ Gearbox oil change.
~ New alternator belt.
Many thanks to Bill for his utterly invaluable assistance with all of the above. If I had gone out on my own I reckon I would have failed at the cooling system drain plug, sat down and read the Second Skipper's last log entries from July last year then gone into a futile dwalm.
Next job is to tackle the general mould and decay caused by 8 months of neglect. Oh, and to replace both house batteries, which are showing five or so volts. . . . looks like the wind generator has not been charging them for some reason, though the engine start battery is just fine. I suspect the Portuguese battery (purchased in Nazare in October 2006) has finally thrown its hand in and taken its newer compatriot with it.

Re: A productive day
I wasn't launched on Friday for the want of a couple of inches but should hopefully be in now and waiting for the weekend which looks promising.

Re: A productive day
Not much in the way of sailing. It now looks like I won't get up until Friday and still got sails to bend on etc. Also have to use the bus at some point and there are only two on Saturday and none on Sunday. Re: A productive day
Think the weather looks good for a trip up one of the longer lochs, like Loch Long, or even longer?
Might swmbos annual outing if it stays smooth.

Afloat, mast up, sails on, mast electrics appear functional.
Beer etc. on. Now to start what the manky winter precluded - rails all sanded ready for varnishing in tomorrow's lovely weather.
Still helping raise the odd mast around the club, otherwise just about ready to play.

We put the genoa on and made an escape down Loch Sween. The dodgers went on enroute.
Got the big sail out as we set off north and used it all the way to Ardfern.
Some other jobs done but cleaning inside and out to start on, maybys tomoz.

Dodgers . . . .
One is still vaguely useable, but the other is no more.
Any suggestions ? (Much cheapness required - both house batteries are dead . . . )

No answers?
If I had remembered to take ours off last back end we may have got another season or two out of them, but I didn't.
Getting the sewing machine out isn't an option.
Dodgers for a Centaur should pose no problem but who do I go to, mail order or someone local (to Scotland not Yorkshire) doesn't matter?

Re: A productive day
Not saying that this is the best place, but an easy option to find out a ball park price. I bought our dodgers, spray hood, and stack pack from them - quite a few years ago now. All done by email. No complaints. They might be pricey?aquaplane wrote:No answers?
