OK, who spilled the beans?

Post by Mavanier »

Surprised to see the Witches' Pool featured in an article on circumnavigating Britain in the latest YM. There goes another hideyhole then.

Of course if that's all the information you had to go on, you would never find it, so maybe there is nothing to fear?

Not me,
I thought I was the only person that new about it, I've always had the place to myself :D
Going back this year on the way North, and really looking forward to it.

Would this be the pool in the western end of Loch Mariveg?
If so, it has been included in Antares Charts this year, looks really interesting. Hoping to head that way this summer and have a look.

It's a good wee spot although the whole point of it is that you can get away from it all yet be within a couple of hours of Stornoway. Would be a shame to have it become a 'must do' on people's lists. There are other similar anchorages further down the island chain, plenty of room for everyone if we spread out a bit :)

Have any of you in your illustrious travels anchored inside Eileean Chalium Chille in Loch Hurista within Loch Erisort. Very sheltered in the easterly winds and also handy for Stornoway. We have never met anyone else at the location during our sailing, and wondered if it was much frequented. :oldtroll:

Can't say I have, plenty of options in that part of the world.
I hear Stornoway have their new pontoons in now, no need to go getting your hands wet messing around with anchors any more.

Surely you have anchor handling gloves on your otherwise superbly equipped Vega?

Any serious interest yet?

Unfortunately the most serious has decided he can't have a boat this year for whatever reasons. I had another who was put off when he saw that there was through-bolted hardware, he apparently wanted a boat to look at rather than use. Each to their own! There are some cheaper Vegas on the market although I don't think they are as well equipped...

Would be great to sell her soon before the new boat arrives. Otherwise she comes home and goes on her trailer in hibernation.

Sail her down to the Canaries and keep her there as a Winter retreat.
