I was down at Maryport marina today (Thursday )and had never seen the tide so high before. It was within three ft of the wall top. Tomorrow is supposed to be much higher plus strong winds

It looked high at Inverary when I came through but not as high as I have seen before here.

It's a bit blowy just now, more east in it than I expected, the fenders are squeaking.

Thanks for that web site Ash - Aquaplane's currently on the bit of the floating pontoon at Tayvallich with Chiro. The non-floaty bits of the pontoon are under water. As posted on his Farcebook page.

I see that Millport tide this afternoon was about one metre above prediction.

Not a very good picture of Rothesay Harbour on 3rd January during the surge...


You might be able to make out the swing bridge is under water.
As of yesterday (Sunday 12th) the bridge is still out of action, its electrics being well-goosed.
So thoughts of a day-sail went on hold.
Farewell is effectively locked in.
The bridge can be raised by hand-pumping the hydraulics but there is a danger of it locking in the raised position, so the harbourmaster is not keen.
The Black Bull was a better plan anyway.
