I know a man . . .

.
. . . who is planning on using his winter fuel allowance to pay a man to polish his yacht.

What does the panel think?

At the end of the day it's his money, he can do what he wants with it. Polishing a boat is a worthy exercise, especially if the boat would not be otherwise polished. 'Onesies' can now be bought for a few beer tokens, thus warmth and gleaming hull for free; wonderful!

I've noticed that hull polishing generates considerable heat.
Winter fuel allowance is for the production of heat.

Where's the disconnect?

Sounds reasonable to me.

The auld goat must be getting more WFA than the rest of us. Last I heard he had filled the tank on the Jag and bought a croissant and that was the £100 blown.

You auldies should realise that when my generation grows up and get to make the rules, we're putting that retirement age right back down again, by the way.
