I know this should be in the wanted section but I thought I may get more views here.
The Rival is being lifted out and transported to her yard at the end of the month and I am looking to borrow a pair of slings to lift her off the truck at the yard. The yards crane is available but they don't have long slings as they use chain for lifting.
The minimum rating I can live with is 15 tonne and 20m long, soft or hard eye, web slings which will be around the 300 mm in width.
I promise to replace them if I damage them but they need to be in good condition i.e. not used to haul logs through the forest or towing trucks and such like.
I can collect and return anywhere in the Central Belt and bit north or south of that. I am just trying to save a few bob as new pair retails at £400. That will be my back up if I cant borrow a set.
Alternatively, does anyone know if their is a company that I can rent from in the Central belt area?
Thanks for looking,
Alastair

Re: Flat Web Slings: 20 tonne, 20m or Longer - To Borrow or
I hate it when people reply with"the problem is...."
however - i think insurance companies and H&S Inspectors are so focussed on ratings and loads that it will be difficult to hire them - rather like chain saw hire has gone out of vogue.
That said, my yacht club has a telehoist and I though I saw a set of slings that had been consigned to the 'out of service' bin
I'll ask and get back to you.

Try Alasdair at Scotia Rigging. I know they test these sort of things but might have some hanging about so to speak....

No joy at the yacht club I'm afraid - sorry if I raised false hope

No problem Claymore, thanks for considering.
Donald - I looked Scotia up in Google and got an email address but it just bounced. I am in Siberia at the moment and its better to email than phone for time zones and cost reasons. You wouldn't happen to have a contact email for the business?
Thanks,
Alastair

B O Bs Maybe bit late with this.
Give Keith Russel (manager of Offshore Workboats Ltd), Rothesay Dock Clydebank, he might be able to help as they have a 75 ton Wise hoist and I think they might have a few sets of slings.
Keith is a Gem of a guy and so helpful, he might just rent u a set for a very limited period of time.
Get Keith on; 07979470206 Tell him I (Eamonn) put u on to him,he may require some kind of guarantee/security/deposit etc.

Thanks Clyde_Wanderer, I will do. I am far, far, away at the moment so it will be just over a week before I call him if nothing comes up.
