My Navtex (Nasa Clipper) has stopped receiving. The screen and buttons still work but nothing comes through. The aerial is still in place. Does anyone know if Malin Head and Portpatrick are transmitting on 490kHz?

The bad news is mine is receiving so I guess yours is rubber-ducked. I have had to send mine back to NASA once in 8 years for repair - t'was quite cheap but I didn't believe the "struck by lightning" diagnosis though there were certainly fried components on the board.
Sudden thought - have you tried connecting the centre aerial co-ax to a long piece of wire (mine is connected via an internal stanchion bolt to the mast and rigging) - the active aerials are not very robust.

Your aerial replacement strategy got better responses, but it is now prone to "Lost Signal" events. At least I know what the problem was. A full resolution is in prospect. Thanks.
