Syndicate Partner Sought

Post by Fingal »

Regular readers may remember that we lost one of the three partners in Cherry Ripe at the beginning of the year. My remaining partner Ian and I are hoping to find a third partner before too long and if anyone here knows someone who might be interested / suitable we would love to hear from them. We operate more like an anarcho-syndicalist collective than the kind of boat share arrangement where everyone gets so many weeks use and need never meet their partners.

The boat is in reasonable condition and fairly well equipped, with a programme of planned refurbishments for the next couple of years, and is based for this season and probably next on the west coast north of Oban. Ian and I both live in Edinburgh.

(NB This should not be construed as a For Sale ad, although obviously there is a financial aspect to the matter.)

Cheers

Perhaps an indication of desirable attributes and skills would enable forumites to identify suitable applicants? Ideally, these abilities would complement those of the present syndicate members and so if you could list these and any obvious areas of weakness I'm sure a short list of people keen to join such a fine vessel can be created. Is there a preference for gender?

Well obviously preference will be given to anyone demonstrably able to completely rebuild a diesel engine under any conditions using a tin opener and a Swiss Army knife.

Ken, she's a fine looking boat so sure you'll find a new anarcho-syndicalist soon. Perhaps you might ask for radio silence re the engine......

;)

For the avoidance of doubt, the engine runs like, well a fine Danish engine. A few problems with, on the one hand the fuel system, now fixed, and a single incident when the propshaft became detached from the gearbox, not long after we took her over, this is a fantastic engine expected to outlast the current owners.

That's not much of a recommendation!

What a strange coincidence, when I took ownership of my Rival 41C, she did the same. Sheared the bolts on the coupling - it almost ended up on a lee shore in a F7. I detest one surveyor from the Clyde as a result of this because I specifically asked for an engine check. Anyway, a new propellor shaft, engine mounts and a lovely Halyard Marine coupling and all was well again. Good luck with finding a syndicate partner.

We have had a few sniffs of interest over the summer but no actual offers. Please pass on the news of this fantastic opportunity. Details about the boat at:
