The BBC weather forecast has been annoying me for years now . . . ever since they decided no-one understood isobars.
However, I saw the new formula tonight and it appears to have entered a completely new arena of pointlessness.
For those who haven't seen it, the whole country is represented as a vaguely terrained arid desert, mysteriously distorted by an equatorial perspective that makes Scotland about the same size as the Isle of Wight. Vague blue blobs hover pathetically around the edges, with sparkly bits of representative precipitation. The blobs are preposterously localised and therefore meaningless. Temperatures pop up here and there in little square tombstones - or at least we assume they are temperatures, it may be the number of viewers watching in each area.
And that's it. Wind has now been abolished completely. Whoever is responsible should be taken out and left to die on an ice floe.

Dumb Dumber and Dumbest
Have to agree they seemed to have managed to dumb down the already dumbed down. I'd suggest starting a campaign to bring back isobars and fronts but I suspect it'd be a futile exercise. They do still do an in-depth Weatherview (I hope?) but this is screened at apparently random times in the early hours of the morning.

Wind is back - at least it was in the Scottish forecast I saw this evening.
