More redundancies on the Clyde

Post by Clyde_Wanderer »

It was announced last week that the Marine Biology station on Cumbrae is to close with the loss of 29 full time staff who have already had their notice. This will have a huge knock on effect on the islands economy.
There was talk a while back of St Andrews taking over but its not looking likely now.
There was something like 2500 student turnaround a year which brought in revenue to the local pubs, food places and grocery stores as a percentage of them rented flats as opposed to living in.
One of the questions been asked at present is where they will locate the Decompression chamber now.
A poor christmas pressie for those effected.
