Ice Bird by David Lewis

Post by Pilgrim »

I have just finished reviewing this book for the British Journal of General Practice, December 2012 issue. David Lewis was a GP in London before he started his sailing adventures.

This is simply the best sailing adventure book I have ever read. I won't spoil the story but if you are short of ideas for a Christmas present for yourself request this book from your nearest and dearest. It makes sailing in Scotland sound very tame in comparison!

Personally, I didn't find it the most gripping sailing book I've ever read.

Still has a spot on my shelves though, so it can't be too bad or it would have gone to Oxfam. :-)

Made me appreciate my Eberspacher. It's on the boat's book shelf along with "Perfect Storm". "Left for Dead", Adlard Coles' "Heavy Weather", Sebastian Junger's "The Perfect Storm", and Munro's seminal work on disasters at sea "Para Handy".
