Loch a'Choire

Post by mm5aho »

Had lunch in Loch a'Choire (west side Loch Linnhe, adacent to north end of Lismore, just north of GlenSanda Quarry), and saw Visitor moorings.
Had not seen these before, but they look like they've been a few years judging by the corroded shackles etc. There's about 6-7 moorings, all with a pickup float, and heavy rope from main buoy. I'm guessing they've been laid by the restaurant that's in the head of the bay?
Not sure this would be a great place to be in strong winds though (any direction), as some pretty severe squalls can come off the hills surrounding this otherwise pleasant little hidey-hole.
Geoff.

Haven't been for a couple of years but the food was excellent when we were there, and, yes, the buoys were laid by the restaurant/estate. It's not a great loch for anchoring as the ground dips quite steeply, but there is quite a decent spot straight across on the south side, just opposite a cottage at the side of the loch.
