Leaving a boat at Inverness

Post by jim.r »

Where's the best place to leave a boat (2m draught) near Inverness for a couple of weeks?

The expanded marina would seem the obvious place, but I don't know what they'd charge. I left my boat there in the former much smaller version 6 years ago for 2 nights while I went to a meeting in London by Sleeper. Then there were only 4 visitor berths, but I would guess there'll be lots more now.

There are also the two marinas in the Canal, which might work out cheaper if you've already paid the transit fee, but time limits might be an issue: ISTR that the transit licence used to give you 10 days max.

Inverness Marina is not especially cheap at £2.50/m/night, there may be discount for a fortnight. Secure and very sheltered. If you are going or coming through the canal the other one(s) maybe cheaper.
