Hi,
Now, don't say this too loudly, but we may be about to see an improvement in the weather. It could be that the final third of July is drier with the jet stream heading back north.
There is more detail in today's Look Ahead video at http://www.weatherweb.net/wxwebtv.htm
Now, of course anything can change, but for now let's cling to that glimmer of hope and try to keep the sun shining!

This was all going so well and then Simon came in with the killer line - "drier across the South, I think the North may struggle!"

Why should I care what the weather's like in Shetland as long is it's OK down in the Clyde?claymore wrote:This was all going so well and then Simon came in with the killer line - "drier across the South, I think the North may struggle!"

I interpreted 'South' to mean South as in southern England

What it looks like is happening is that the jetstream slowly heads North from it's current position from next weekend. Albeit with a major wiggle in it before , dumping a LOT of moisture in Southern areas.
If it were to re-establish it's more familiar northern track, all that will happen is that Scotland will be fed a continual diet of low pressure systems , punted into higher latitudes by the High which brings the much lauded dryer/warmer conditions to dan sarf...
A return to an average wet Scottish summer, with occasional dry sunny intervals (what's that?) would be quite acceptable...
I reckon the midge population must be nearly water-logged by now... I hope

Perfect midge weather at Ardfern on Sunday, moist and warm - not a single nibble.
