Sanda - The latest attitude

Post by marisca »

'Cos TOP mentioned it I went looking again and the Sanda website isn't quite as far up itself as it was, but still looks as if they need help in the concept of right to roam and anchor. An attraction for passing sailors starved of company since Gigha or Campbeltown might be the "Premises Manager" Berna Civeleker

Whether the welcome extends to the lower orders anchoring their boats and desiring liquid refreshment rather than haute cuisine, I await reports. If I do get there I feel it is incumbent upon me to anchor under sail!
Terms of Business for use of the moorings at Sanda Island
We welcome yachts from all over the world in the bay at Sanda Island. We have 4 modern moorings, built in 2010. Anyone using the moorings will also be welcome in our restaurant.

Owners must not pick up or leave the mooring under sail.
It is the owners responsibility to ensure that their vessel is moored correctly.
Owners must not double moor to another boat in the absence of a vacant mooring space.
Owners must maintain adequate insurance which must cover:
a) Damage to other vessels; and
b) Damage caused by fire or any other hazard to the moorings and any other property owned by Sanda Island Limited.
Use of the moorings is at the owners own risk and Sanda Island Limited accepts no liabilty whatsoever for any damage occassioned through such use.

They've got their sporrans on back-to-front. What a bunch of @rse-coverers.

Doesn't make me want to go there at all, unless it was to break the rules.

£10 to moor but no liability accepted . . . . another anchorage clogged up with moorings . . . fine by your somewhat decadent Solent standards Jim m'lad but not acceptable up here in the Land of the (soon to be) Free

Jimi doesn't tend to sail in the Solent - sees himself as more of a West Country sort of chappie - I think the pasties are the attraction.

He has sailed there though (I've sailed out of there with him) and anyway I think that Solent, in this context, is just shorthand for soft southern sailing.

Absolutely everywhere, I'd have bloody well thought. If I am paying for a mooring then I expect the people providing it to take liability for the state of the equipment and to have public liability insurance.

Correct. Though Coll was an exception until recently when CMAL took it over.
