Hebridean Whale & Dolphin Trust require a skipper for a forthcoming survey which will see groups of students (up to 6 at a time) from St. Andrews University joining staff (Skipper, First Mate and Science Officer) onboard Silurian to learn cetacean (whale, dolphin and porpoise) survey techniques. There will be three blocks of short surveys (3 days in length); the first group will join Silurian on the morning of the 28th March and the last group will depart Silurian in the morning of Saturday 7th April.
The survey will rendezvous in Tobermory on the Isle of Mull, with travel expenses provided. The route surveyed will be weather dependent, with nights spent in safe anchorage in the survey area (the islands off the west coast of Scotland). There are also opportunities for further work during HWDTs season (May - September). Please see http://www.hwdt.org<http://www.hwdt.org> for further information about the Trust.
We pay £110 per day plus travel expenses.
RYA Yachtmaster qualification with commercial endorsement required.
