A better class of forum . . .

Post by Nick »

Just spent a couple of hours ranting in various threads in the other place. It seems to be full of people who:

- have decided global warming is nonsense because any measures to counteract it will threaten their lifestyle . . . they will grab onto any Sun headline or passing piece of internet flotsam to justify this

- don't believe they should pay any tax at all because they are the sort of people who put the Great in Britain

- believe that the current government is making a personal attack on them and that it will all be much better when the other lot get in (such short memories, such naivete)

I will remember this every time I wish this forum had more registerd users . . .

Global warming

Post by DaveS »

Nick,

Aye, I came back from holiday into the middle of this. Some very odd notions going about. Sod the evidence, it's all a TB conspiracy to tax us more...

Now I have absolutely no time for weasel Blair, but really! The idea that you can just set aside inconvenient evidence as being mere party politics is IMHO more than just a tad nieve. And, horror, shock, the price of red diesel is to go up...

I could bring you a litre back Donald . . .

Talking of which, we bought a litre of Old Mull today for E8.99 - but it's a bit too high octane for the Beta I reckon.

I've been making progress with the flight from Denmark to Edinburgh... a bit early to say the notion is sold - but progress no less.

Had a good night out 2am for us. Plenty chit-chat with the saily pals.

Met Jim on Monday night at the CCC talk given by Davis Spy on modelmaking (which incidently was facinating stuff) and he said he was delayed form Dublin quite a bit.

Good to hear about Denmark. I get the feeling that there may be some room for movement there from Liz.

Good weekend then?
