What is the browser of choice?

Post by sahona »

OK guys, my IE7 just locked up again, as it is in the habit of doing.
Can any of you give me an opinion of the best basic browser, preferably with the ability to block pop-ups.
I did have a go with firefox a while back, but then reverted to IE when I went to win7.
Google chrome worth a try?

Ive been using Firefox for a long time now, quite happy with it. Tried Chrome for a few days, went back to Firefox.
Adblock Plus stops most things.

I've been using Firefox for some years now with no particular problems. Oh, should have said, on XP (as ever, last out of the past...)

Another vote for IE9 which seems to run well with 7, or maybe it's just my new abacus.

Yet another vote for IE9.
Shouldn't somebody say:
a) Buy a Mac
b) Change to Linux

Thanks gents. I'll upgrade IE and see how things go, as I 'm too old to learn new tricks. (that goes for MacJaffa as well)

This thread prompted me to have a look, and I've discovered that IE9 can't be used with XP, AFAIK.

I'm probably doing it all back to front as I mainly use IE8 with XP on the older laptop, and Google Chrome with W7 on the netbook.

I tend to stick with IE as I have stacks of Favorites book marked.

My "upgrade" went round in a circle as I was - apparently- already on IE9 - - so it still locks up and isn't fixed.
PS - I couldn't find a properties frame that gave me the level I was on before I started on this venture.
This is a new-ish laptop more or less untouched by human hand, it dragged me kicking and screaming into W7 and, I assume IE9.
No 80 column MFCM channel, so I guess I'm phuqued- sorry, I probably mean past my die-by date.
