An observer with a sharper eye would notice that the left hand of the individual is swathed in bandage denoting a serious if not life threatening injury. The plucky smile on the face of the lad speaks volumes of his resiliance and tenacity in the face of adversity and the best you can do is to make some derisory remark regarding the direction in which the poor chap's only unfettered digit is pointing.
