CG Helicopter Winch Action

Post by Mark »

India Juliet was called out on a rescue in Chi which came to nothing. So we radioed Solent CG to see if they wanted to practice on us. And they did. They winched a guy onto the Sadler 32 we were sailing, and back off. Much fun ensued.

I've been on the water when the CG asked to practice on a yacht in the vicinity and was disappointed that Silkie wasn't chosen. I suspect they felt that 22' was just too much of a challenge. :shake:

I'd hate to see this thread being a precedent for a spate of double postings on TOP and here. Please, one or the other but not both.

Now you mention it, I wish we'd thought of greeting him with "Ahh Mr Bond, I've been expecting you.".

If that was on Sat, we saw you. We were visiting Martin_J in Langstone and went for a quick whizz through the inshore gap in the submarine barrier back through the forts and back to Southsea. Blinking cold!

Sounds like us.

Small world, think we had just crossed the channel and were heading for the forts when we spotted the action, lovely sailing weather

Ooooh Marisca - just punching above our weight here - woe betide you if the Webmeister reads it differently

Quite right though - we ought to be able to think and operate independantly of shufflebum.

are you entirely sure you intended to use the word "independantly" or perhaps it was a subliminal attempt to placate webcam?

Oops! It wasn't meant to come across as so officiously forum-policman like. I can understand the OP wanting to broadcast his excitement to all and sundry and had I had a visit from the sky I would want to yell it loudly too. Just that the copy/paste posting offended my sensibilities in that the august denizens of this forum were being treated to exactly the same message as the oicks over on TOP (and 10 minutes later!) - surely we deserve better?

That's not the half of it. I was like a 4 year old with his new bike on Christmas day. It was all I could do not to blurt out “How fast will she go, mister?”.

I must admit I wasn't planning to enthusiastically comply with your initial request.

In view of your clarification I find I'm in emphatic agreement.

The readership of the two forae require & deserve a completely different approach.

Communication with TOPers requires nothing more than a series of primitive grunts, whistles, clicks and gestures. For the followers of Bluemoment I could, and should, adopt a much more sophisticated approach.

But it would be entirely wasted - "pearls before swine" I believe is the relevant soubriquet. :tiphat:

Own goal - or for the purposes of this exercise have you temporarily suspended your status of a "follower of Bluemoment"?

Oh dear, your grasp of the language obviously befits you more for the "series of primitive grunts, whistles, clicks and gestures" of a typical TOPper. "Soubriquet" is a nickname; "pearls before swine" is more of an epithet - perhaps I could press one of the better educated on this forum to advise the correct term.

Enjoy your period of excommunication!
