Saily people are nice people.
As the title, recently I have had reason to confirm that sailors are decent folk.
A couple of weeks ago my dad ended up in Lochgilphead hospital having had a stroke on Seminole in Tarbert. The support for my mum from the liveabords and the folks in Tarbert was second to none. Fortunately he only lasted a short time before he passed, <24hrs.
The number of cards from saily folks, both Tabert berth holders and other people they met while cruising has been a great comfort.
A few folk from Tarbert came down to Yorkshire for the funeral last Monday, much apreciated.
It's sort of sad but not so bad. He was 82 and had a good go at life, we are celibrating his life as much as mourning his loss.
Thanks.

I'd just like to add my sentiment to this (although I must declare a close interest here). Everyone was lovely, offering practical help when needed.

.
Commiserations to two very nice saily people.
Glad to hear you are celebrating his life more than mourning - I'm sure it is what he would prefer.

I am sad for you both, but kinda glad he had a good go at life. If someone can mutter that at my funeral, I would be chuffed.
Really heartened by the saily folk, I think I will stick with them as my mates in life.

Full Circle, thank you, it was a lovely service and for someone with such a packed life. A good send off by a very wide circle of friends and family old and new.
The best bit was - he got to see his grand daughter sailing and knew his great-grandson is learning to love boats.

Sorry to hear of your loss, but glad it was not drawn out. Find a way to keep an eye on your Mum, it will hit her hard when everyone has gone home.
Best wishes to all.

Sorry to hear of your loss. Your Dad once lent me a manual Stanley drill in Tarbert when my battery one ran out of steam. He was only too glad to be of help.aquaplane wrote:As the title, recently I have had reason to confirm that sailors are decent folk.

Just read this Bob, sorry to hear of your loss.
My thoughts are with you and your Mum, whom I am sure I met in Tarbert a few years ago.
Eamonn.

Gutted to hear about your loss.
82 and still be well enough to be on a boat at the very end? Fingers crossed that I have that luck.
