In defence of East Coast sailing

Post by puddock »

When I gave up my berth and headed East this year, I was all set for a disappointing season and lack of scenery. Happily, I discovered that the East Coast has an abundance of coastal scenery, not every day is a howling gale and it doesn't always rain sideways ! (apparently the weather on the West has been a little tricky this year). Admittedly it is rather exposed in weather from the N or E and the options for deeper water shelters are less but with a little thought and planning these shortfalls can usually be overcome. The natives are a friendly bunch too. I'd advise anyone to head over if they fancy a change next summer, there are some great wee places.

PS: I presume the continued flying of the Bluemoment burgee is not in contravention of any burgee etiquette?

Which reminds me, Ocklepoint introduced himself at Peterhead Marina recently and pointed out that the burgee was designed by his very self. Unfortunately he has still not received his 'prize' of tea towels that he was promised. I think I have managed to disuade him from taking legal action for the time being but strongly urge Nick to pay up .... there was talk about sending the "heavies" round ....

Interesting collection of 141 photos on your photobucket account Puddock but did you really want to give open access to them for everybody?

I don't think so but I presumed there must be something fruity so I checked them for you.
