Juan,

Friends and I have tentatively discussed buying a small cheap yacht in the Canaries as a sort of mobile timeshare. Perhaps you could keep a lookout for something suitable. Ideally 30 - 35 ft, large forepeak or separate aft cabin (as a permanent double bedroom) and seaworthy enough for all year round inter-island passages and occasional trips to Madeira or the Azores.

Budget would be under £15k. We would also need a permanent berth somewhere - preferred option would be San Sebastian on La Gomera, but I know Graciosa would be a lot cheaper.

We would need to know about any Spanish tax or beaureaucy problems we might encounter.

Hi Nick

Problem will be permanent berth because of the rent price. La Gomera is full all year, and as you know there is no flight direct. I can try in Tenerife, there are cheaper berth, and you can sail to La Gomera, and everywhere.

I will check if there are any boat for you with your Budget.

You can mail me to juanto@transportesacaymo.com if you want

Regards

Surprised to hear that la Gomera is full all year - there were plenty of berths when we were there in 2006/2007.

In San Sebastián, as a permanent berth, no way. You can stay there for days, but not for leave the boat all year. Any way, if you want I can Ask
