I was more impressed with what looked like a very large seal balanced on top of a rock astern of the winged thing!

I saw this very thing in Loch Aline a few weeks ago. The rock in question was part of the reef on the western side about 3/4 of the way up and was just awash i.e. you couldn't see it at all. The seal was balanced on top with it's body arched to keep as much of itself out of the water as possible and looked for all the world like some exotic living perch.
