What a perfect day yesterday was. T shirt and shorts all day.
Just enough breeze in the morning to float from Silt City to the very pleasant anchorage on the north side of Inchcolm. If you sit with your back to the Braefoot Bay terminal it really is a fine little spot. There is a strong ebb through the channel there, so to use kayaking parlance, a definite breakout into the anchorage.
Then, right on cue, after a bit of lunch and a couple of beers the wind came up out of the west. Just enough for a couple of rolls in the genoa; a bit of ship dodging in the deep water channel by Oxcars then a fast goosewinged run down to Inchkeith and a beat up to Inchmickery. It was just too good a day to waste so I missed the tide to get back to my mooring and had to leave the boat on the pontoon.
It was a bit hot, I couldn't sleep when I tried to have a siesta Saturday PM.
Sunday morning it was nice and fresh and cool with no wind so I motored to the South end of the Lake for breakfast. Erica rigged the Mirror and set off North when the breeze kicked in, I gave her a small start and set off to follow her.
It's a good job she turned round to let me pass her after 1½ hours, it would have been embarassing if she beat me to Bowness. The wind got quite frisky just as I passed the ferry and tried to get the cruising chute in.
It was a spanking sail back to the mooring after lunch, just enough breeze to keep me cool despite the back of my legs being a bit overexposed.
Well I meesed up the house plumbing on sat morning so spent the next 12 hours sorting out the mess .. went climbing on sunday .. too hot so gave up at 20:00 and went and got fish and chips
