.
Thanks LBB - age is not an issue, the rocks will still be there and we have electric charts to check for changes.

Re: Shetland Charts
Sorry, mine are already lent out. If you do use old yins the shift between WGS84 and OSGB36 is a significant factor up there. Either reset your gps datum or use something like http://www.movable-type.co.uk/scripts/l ... idref.html for the transform.

Re: Shetland Charts
Thanks for pointing that out. We will reset the old GPS and the chartplotter software to coincide with the paper and (older) C-Map charts, but the standalone Garmin plotter has new charts in it which - I assume - are all WGS84. When exactly did the datum change?marisca wrote:Sorry, mine are already lent out. If you do use old yins the shift between WGS84 and OSGB36 is a significant factor up there. Re: Shetland Charts
Nae idea, but it was definitely after my charts were printed. Admiralty charts tell you the datum, old ones are OSGB36, later ones tell you the datum shift for WGS84 plotting, and most of the latest are WGS84 or something very similar. I have marked my charts with the shift in big red letter to remind me.Nick wrote: When exactly did the datum change?
The difference varies but is about 0.03'N (~55m) and 0.1'E (~100m) up there - enough to hit the rock you thought you were clear of!

Re: Shetland Charts
Charts received from Stewart on Friday evening in a shady looking transfer in a layby off M80 and transported to Kip. Then sailed them to Cumbrae where they were handed on to Sliced Sausage for onward sail to Tarbert. So should now be safely in Argyll.
