just wondering - do the skills( or indeed the duties ) of tassc run to the provision of the updated calendar ?

The TAASC is not considered sufficiently skilled to be able to undertake this particular function. Actually I think the main consideration is that auld Nick reckons on using images of faraway lands which he will take during his voyage.
