Another moan ...

I went down to Dunstaffnage in January to get Rosally ready for coming out (late due to work commitments). When I arrived, I found that she had already been taken out (without being requested to). As a result, my freshwater system had frozen solid as I hadn't had a chance to drain it. The result was a few cracked elbow joints and more water coming out of the cracks than was coming out of the taps.
Luckily, when I ran the engine, prior to winterizing it, everything seemed fine - and the raw water circuit was flushed and left with a liberal dosing of anti-freeze solution, while the internal cooling fluid was drained and replaced. I don't have any worries about the engine side of things.
However, I do feel a little apprehensive about relaunch with regards to hoses onto skin fittings etc.

Do you think I should wear my lifejacket and have flares close to hand when I relaunch at the weekend?

Assuming all seacocks were open, then I wouldnt worry. If they were closed then maybe.

But one thing I would do is to register my concern in writing with the yard. If they have to lift the boat for safety or in an emergency, then fine but they should also do the housekeeping like emptying the tanks if you cant get there straight away and it'sfrosty. If there is no emergency then they have no business lifting at all. And whatever they do they should phone first. Their approach is simply not good enough and leaves them legally out on a limb.
