Scooby Doo

Post by Mark »

Anyone know Scooby Doo - a Moody from Rhu Marina?

I sailed on her this week in the South.

I don't suppose in some Matrix like coincidence she's anything to do with 'Road Runner' that was in Largs a few years back...

Our last boat was called Snark. One winter we were ashore at Port Edgar and at the other end of the shed was Boojum. Say what you like about PE staff but they enjoy literary balance.

In the midst of the word he was trying to say
In the midst of his laughter and glee
He had softly and suddenly vanished away
For the Snark
was a Boojum, you see.

An agony in eight fits.

Some years ago I was in a busy Marina. Avout 4:30am (it was summer so just about dawn) I got up and staggered off the boat to find a quiet bit of pontoon for a slash.

I found plenty of activity. The outside 3 boats of a nearby raft of four were sleepily casting off to circle round in their pants/pyjamas etc. The inside boat was clearly going, everyone on it was wide awake, kitted up and ready to go.

I nearly wet myself laughing when I spotted the name as it left:

"First Away".

Like a Peyton cartoon.

There was a First 27(±2') moored near us untill it was sold recently, I suspect it's a popular name.
Seminole.
Cheers Bob.
